October at Cibo Labs:Making Every Paddock CountAs October wraps up and we head towards summer, it's a great time to check in on how your feedbase is tracking and what the changing season might bring. This week, we're moving onto the next phase of our pasture biomass model calibration, reminding you to check November's rolling averages in the free Australian Feedbase Monitor, and sharing something a little different from one of our talented team members! Plus, we're rounded up some upcoming AgTech and grazing events happening across the country. Grab a cuppa and catch up on what's been happening at Cibo Labs! Pasture Biomass Model Update A big thank you to everyone who has contributed pasture data to support our next biomass model calibration! Over recent months, we've been working with producers, collaborators and research partners to collect and bring together pasture observations from across a wide range of landscapes and seasonal conditions. From pasture cuts and visual estimates to observations of bare ground and low biomass, every contribution is helping build a valuable dataset for our next model calibration. What's Happening Now?With the latest data collection efforts complete, our team is now drilling into the data, reviewing records, checking data quality and preparing the information for the next stage of model calibration. It's an important part of the process, helping us better understand how satellite imagery relates to actual pasture conditions on the ground. For producers using PastureKey and the Australian Feedbase Monitor, this work supports our ongoing efforts to improve the reliability of pasture biomass estimates across different grazing environments. Thank you again to everyone who has contributed! Your observations are helping shape the next generation of Cibo Labs pasture biomass maps. 👉 Explore the history of Cibo Labs pasture biomass model updates
What a Difference a Month can MakeTime to Check Your Rolling AveragesWhen it comes to pasture growth, conditions can change quickly, and sometimes the difference between two months is remarkable! Take a look at this comparison of Green Pasture Biomass from October and November 2025 below. In October, much of the mapped area was showing very low levels of green pasture biomass, with red dominating the landscape. Fast forward to November, and there's a noticeable increase in green pasture biomass across parts of the property, particularly within the outlined paddocks. It's a great example of how quickly pasture conditions can change and why monitoring your feedbase over time is so valuable. What Will November 2026 Bring? As we head into November, now is a great time to jump into the free Australian Feedbase Monitor (AFM) and check how conditions are tracking across your region. By exploring the rolling averages and comparing observations over time, you can see where pasture is responding, how biomass is changing and whether conditions are following a similar pattern to previous seasons. With summer approaching, these insights can help inform grazing rotations, pasture recovery and feed planning. Last November showed us just how much can change in a month. What will your feedbase look like this year?
When Science Meets Art!At Cibo Labs, we're used to turning satellite imagery and complex data into practical insights for Australian agriculture. But over the weekend, one of our remote sensing analysts, Mark, put those same skills to work on something a little different! At a music festival in Woodford, QLD, Mark showcased his custom projection installation, bringing an incredible display of light and colour to the natural landscape. Using the same principles of image processing, mapping and spatial alignment that underpin our work at Cibo Labs, Mark projected moving visuals onto a complex geometric structure. Set against the forest with reflections across the water, the result was pretty spectacular! It's a great reminder that the science and technology behind our pasture maps can have some pretty creative applications beyond the paddock. A fantastic effort, Mark! We love seeing the different talents and creativity within our team.

When the rain arrives, paddocks turn green and pasture starts growing, it's easy to feel like the pressure is off.
Just because a paddock is looking greener doesn't necessarily mean it's ready to graze again.
